Pembrokeshire Coastal Path
In the Middle Ages, two pilgrimages to St Davids were said to be equal to one to Rome, and three the equivalent of one to Jerusalem. Today’s wayfarers can make their way on foot along Pembrokeshire’s glorious Coast Path to the city – Britain’s smallest. The walk from Newgale to St Davids via picturesque Solva is one of the finest of many wonderful stretches along the Pembrokeshire coast. Almost all this stretch is National Trust owned land. As with the Coast path as a whole, its very well served by regular buses throughout the year. So you can leave your car at St Davids, jump on a bus to Newgale and enjoy a leisurely walk back – its easy to extend this walk since there are several access points further along the coast, from each of which you can walk (or take a bus) back to Solva.
The picturesque fishing village of Solva (Solfach) is nestled against the harbour on the stunning Pembrokeshire coastline, a couple of miles from the Cathedral City of St David’s.
A place of tranquility, Solva sits alongside the breathtaking national coastal path near award-winning secluded beaches, where you can canoe, sail, fish, pony-trek or just sit back and relax in the sunshine.
The village has a general store and post office as well as a pretty street of boutique shops, galleries, cafes, pubs and restaurants, where you can unwind after a long day of ….well, relaxing.
